Greetings to all Muskoday Band Members

At this time, I would like to thank all who supported me in the March 2015 election. I am pleased and honoured to represent Muskoday for another term. As always, my pledge is to do the best job I can to represent Muskoday, its members and the interests of Muskoday First Nation. I will be available at the band office daily to address any concerns, issues or suggestions that you may have. I will also be maintaining my personal website, randybear.ca , for monthly updates and communications on all of my portfolio areas.

My portfolios include:

  • Economic Development
  • Lands Framework Agreement
  • Lands Committee
  • Community Planning
  • Bison Project
  • Communications
  • Heavy Equipment (Operations and Maintenance)
  • Roads
  • Crossing Island
  • MFN Store
  • MFN Restaurant

During 2013-2015, I was able to accomplish some of my objectives for the past term. One of the most important ones was to create the Muskoday Economic Development Authority. This will be the development and investment division of the Muskoday First Nation that will guide and oversee business development and potential business opportunities for Muskoday. For more details on this initiative, you can read about it on the Initiatives menu on this muskodayfn.ca website or go to my personal website, randybear.ca for an update. The buffalo project has been improved. We have downsized the herd for a number of reasons: 1. the bloodline has to be changed every 3-5 years to ensure that inter- breeding is not happening. A new breeding bull has been purchased to ensure a new bloodline and improved genetics; 2. The larger herd increased maintenance and feed costs; 3. The herd is now tagged and records are being maintained on each animal. Buffalo meat distribution will continue to be ongoing for the Elders/Seniors. During this term, I would like to focus on Governance issues; that is, to develop a Custom Election Code, Membership Code and to continue to work on a Muskoday Constitution, that will be some of the elements of an overall Muskoday Self Government model. For additional updates and communications, please go to muskodayfn.ca or randybear.ca

Respectfully

Randy Bear
